Mui kee, Hong Lin, C To Macau (2011-01-28)
November 17, 2010Today's breakfast would be eaten in a wet market's cooked food
section. Mui Kee is quite popular with the locals that serves up
great congee.
The two staff were most friendly and chatted with us amicably, one of them even offered to pose for my camera! I recommended the fish congee to C who had never eaten Hong Kong style congee. Besides the classic fried cruller and steamed rice rolls as accompaniment, we also got a dish of fish skin to try.
We loved all our food especially the congee which was so creamy and
sweet. The fish skin tasted nothing like fish, but CRUNCHY
cartillage. How do they make slimy fish skin into soft yet crunchy
non-fishy curls??
Right after that greatly satisfying meal, I led C across the road to
Hong Lin and got her to
try their famous pineapple bun. C took one bite of the crispy
flaky topping over soft fluffy bun and was sold. Even though she
was really full from breakfast, she gobbled the large bun.
After that, we hurried back to China Hong Kong City in Tsim Sha Tsui
where C bought her ferry ticket to visit Macau on her own.
Because I wasn't interested in Macau at all, I got to roam the city by
myself for the day.
