Sakuraya Watch Shop (2005-03-10)
I have been going to Sakuraya in Shinjuku () to have my watch battery replaced in the past few years. Sakuraya is a seven-story store which sells watches and clocks. Several floors in the shop are dedicated to just selling brand name watches such as Rolex and Bvlgari. The service department where I go is located on the top floor. The lift opens out to rows of seats and a long counter behind which technicians in white lab coats serve customers and do repair work on watches. It all looks very professional indeed. Each customer is given a card and wait while their watch service is
being carried out. My battery replacement job usually takes about
10 minutes and costs around US$10. When the work is done, your
name will be called and you take the card to the counter and get your
watch back. The staff is always very efficient, pleasant and
courteous. I don't know what other shops charge for
changing watch batteries, but I'm sticking to this one because they
always make me feel good doing business with them.
