Expensive Kimonos (2005-07-23)
Some high-end kimonos are hand made with the finest materials by exquisite designers. I have seen some sold for US$3500 each and I'm sure there are more expensive ones that I haven't seen. And Japanese women do commonly wear kimonos to weddings and functions, although mostly not quite the $3500-kind.
But can you imagine going to an opening or exclusive event wearing a
kimono which costs a whole heckuva lot more than a Haute Couture such
as Herrera or
Oscar De La Renta that everybody else is wearing? The effect can
be comical.
