Obligatory_Donation (2007-11-12)
At KL's office, money is collected whenever gifts need to be bought for a fellow colleague's upcoming wedding, baby shower, farewell or funeral etc. When you are only asked to donate money but not invited to the actual event, it means KL's not close to the person for whom the gift is spent on. Sometimes it is someone he doesn't even know what he/she looks like; it could be someone who works on another floor. Am I a cold heartless person to think that "THIS SUCKS!"?So you are getting married or having a baby, what does it have to do
with KL? If it is someone he has a close working relationship
with, he doesn't mind the donation. But if the person in question
is someone he hardly knows, then what's the point? However, if he
doesn't donate like everybody else does, he'll look bad and a bad name
will likely follow him forever.
The money donation bag got passed around again. This time it's
for a fellow worker's parent's funeral. KL didn't know the
deceased at all, but at least the son is a likable person.
KL received a "thank you" gift after the funeral: three packets of
Ochatsuke (dried toppings on rice eaten with green tea poured over
it). This particular person even gives a second thank you gift: a nice box
of rice crackers. This is the first time KL may have gotten the
most of his
money's worth from obligatory donation, hahaha.
