Shijou No Chubou (2007-12-20)
KL took us to a restaurant called Shijou no Chuubou in Tsukiji () for dinner the second night. I'd never been there but he had excellent tuna sashimi there once with colleagues.Located in a darkened and quiet fish market with empty wooden crates
strewn near the entrance, you wouldn't expect a restaurant to be
there. The only human movement for miles around was workers in
little mechanical trucks loading and unloading fruits
and vegetables ready to be sold to shop owners in a few hours when the
market opens.
Inside the restaurant is another story though. It was buzzing
with noise from a packed house. Smoking patrons were aplenty but
it's unavoidable since smoking in restaurants is still legal in Tokyo.
I don't eat raw fish, so I cant' tell you how it was. The kids
and I had cooked food while KL, Peter and Rachel concentrated on the
tuna. I believe they enjoyed it. I myself particularly
liked the
crispily fried Tempura prawns.
