Yasube Ramen (2007-12-23)

Because of their short stay, there's not enough time to eat everything Peter and Rachel wanted.  Having had to choose, they opted for ramen rather than sushi because they could get very nice sushi in Sydney but only mediocre ramen there.

KL highly recommended Yasubee whose Shibuya (kanji) and Shinjuku (kanji) location have always gathered a line of patient customers.  KL only tried the Shibuya one and just loved it.  Since the Shinjuku location is close to Peter's hotel, we went there for dinner.  The whole time we were there, none of the seats stayed empty.

We got our own tickets from the ticket machine while we waited.  The all-counter seats design plus the line of people meant we couldn't have six consecutive empty seats, thus we were broken up into pairs when seats became available.

I got a Shio-ramen and paid extra for a seasoned soft boiled egg.  I liked my noodles but not loved it.  The soup which had a distinctive taste of dried fish used in making the stock could've been hotter and the noodles could've been thinner for my taste.  To be fair, Yasubee is well-known for their tsukemen (noodles served separately on a plate and you dip a mouthful in the soup before eating it), perhaps I need to give that a try next time.
