Dim Sum In Ikebukuro (2008-03-07)
I entertained my friend's desire to have dimsum at Hong Kong Chen Long香港蒸蘢(Hong Kong steam baskets) on the 8th floor of Metropolitan Plaza last week.
It was exactly 1pm when we were seated as we proceeded to dine with
the rest of the patrons who filled about half of the tables.
Lunch is served buffet style--my friend's favorite mode of
eating--where there're hot dishes, dessert and drinks at the front and
three dim sum carts circling around. 1554Yen will buy you 70
minutes of gluttony.
The restaurant touts "authentic Hong Kong dim sum", but which
part? We tried every dim sum but one and I can say none of it was
even close to authentic. If they serve such fare in Hong Kong,
people would bash them with dumplings.
However, the food wasn't nasty, it just wasn't tasty. Such
food can fool your average Japanese, but not this Honky.
