Farewell Dinner--Yummy Noodles (2008-07-08)
This is the only random restaurant we ate at on this trip, and that's only because the one Marco planned on taking us was closed when the taxi delivered us to the door. We (actually it was more like I) were lured by all the BBQ meat hanging in the window of Yummy Noodles nextdoor and decided to have our last meal there. We had planned to eat Cantonese BBQ duck in the first place, might as well be one that didn't require anymore walking. The food was good, not overwhelmingly good though. The
mushroom hotpot rice must be the least flavorful hotpot rice there
is. It looked like they just briefly stirfried big chunks of
mushrooms, tossed them on top of plain rice and called it a day.
Marco asked for the special sweet soy sauce that usually accompanies
hotpot rice, but the waiter told us to just use the normal soy sauce on
the table. The BBQ meat, especially the chicken, was great, but a
bit over seasoned which went well with the bland rice.
Looking back at the photos and realizing that the restaurant name is
Yummy Noodles, I should've
ordered noodles as I just love love love rice noodles. Perhaps
they cook their noodles better than they do with rice?
Thank you so much Marco for buying dinner. You've done more
than any good host should do, taking days off work, spending money on
us and showing us around with untiring enthusiasm. There are
still places KL wanted to go and didn't get a chance which only means
we'll be back! And we'll ask you again not to feel obligated to
hang with us, and you'll without doubt go out your way to do so
anyway. Get
ready to be bothered again!
