PanTray, Coffee, Souvenir Shopping (2010-01-21)
Met up with another friend of KL, Raymond, in Causeway Bay to have lunch. The PanTray is primarily an all-day-breakfast restaurant with some
other dishes on its menu. Of course I didn't ask KL to go there
to eat bacon and eggs, I wanted to try their Mini Burgers and fish and
chips.
Raymond ordered their lunch special of chicken burger from a list of
choices. The salad that came with it did look very fresh but the
burger was so-so according to him. Our burgers were on the other
hand very good. The salmon burger was soft and non-fishy, the
foie gras burger with caramelized onions was fragrant and
melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the Wagyu burger beefy and cooked just
right. I enjoyed them a lot.
The fish and chips were even better. The fries (including
those with the burgers) were crispy, non-greasy on the outside and
creamy in the center. The three pieces of fish had a very crunchy
coating over moist, flaky fish, and they had that aromatic smokiness
that's just yummy! I'd definitely return for the sliders and fish
and chips.
After lunch, we walked over to Koi Kei, a well-known food souvenir
shop from Macau and got some gifts for friends and colleagues.
Pacific Coffee was the next stop where KL had a cup of free cappuccino
using a coupon from Raymond.
We then split so that KL and I would go use up yet another two cash
coupons from MTR at Elements Mall above Kowloon Station.
Elements Mall on Tung Chung Line is relatively new. Called Elements, it's devided into five zones, each represented by the Chinese astrological components of gold, wood, water, fire and earth. We didn't have time to explore the entire mall and just went to H&M, Zara, and Brooks Brothers.
After the shopping's done, we took the free shuttle (finally!) using the MTR Pass to get back to Tsim Sha Tsui to unload our bags before heading to Times Square to meet with Raymond and his wife Catherine.
