Kushi Jige (2010-09-08)

Raymond and Catherine came to Tokyo from Hong Kong for a very brief visit in August and we had dinner together at Kushi Jige.

Located in Tsukiji (kanji), Kushi Jige is well-known for their chargrilled tuna neck and raw tuna (sashimi style) eaten directly from the backbone of the fish.  (Reservation for the backbone tuna is required)

I didn't eat the raw tuna but our friends said it was good.  The other dishes we ate were also good, just not overwhelmingly great (perhaps my expectation was too high).

But I've gotta admit it, seeing that big tuna backbone brought to the table was impressive, (the table next to us was a party of ten, their tuna backbone was ginormous) it's a pretty good restaurant to wow first-time visitors.

Getting there is easy: from Subway Hibiya Line's Tsukiji Station Exit 2, walk toward Tsukiji market, turn right on the second cross street, Jige is on the right near the end, about 2 minutes from the station. (one minute if you are a fast walker)
