Long Weekend (2004-09-21)
Yesterday was Respect the Elders Day, a national holiday. KL had the day off and spent the long weekend meeting friends, shopping and generally having a good time. This past Saturday we met up with
Fung who came to Japan with his
mother and two friends on vacation. KL picked up some bus tickets
he had reserved for them a few days earlier and then we had
dinner together in an Izakaya in Shinjuku (). We walked around
Shinjuku after dinner so they could marvel at the busy night scene in
Japan. They all had rolled-up crepes filled with cream and sweet
stuff for dessert in a crepe shop.
The next day Fung and his people went to Mount Fuji by highway bus
so KL and I had the day to ourselves. We went to Kichijoji () and
Shinjuku to look at suitcases because we need a bigger one to replace
ours for our upcoming annual vacation. We spent the whole day
window shopping, had a nice Chinese lunch in Kichijoji and afternoon
tea in Shinjuku. We haven't found the suitcase yet, but I bought
a basket for my bike. That's accomplished shopping for me.
And yesterday we took a ride on our bikes early in the
morning. We rode for about 75 minutes non-stop and went as far as
two suburbs away. It was good exercise and we had fun doing
it. Since Fung went to Kyoto after their Fuji trip, we won't be
seeing them until Saturday when they return to Tokyo. We'll meet
them then before they head back to Sydney the next day.
The three-day long weekend whizzed by in a flash and it's regrettable that KL has to return to work. But thank goodness another national holiday, Autumnal Equinox Day, is coming up on Thursday. I'm sure it'll fly past in no time again. However the weekend will follow shortly, yay!
