Long Weekend (2004-09-21)

Three people enjoying a game of croquet in one of the parks we cycle past

Ready to make that shot

A spooky statue on our cycle route. Someone has tied a bandana thing on its head with the word "Matsuri" (Festival) on it. May be that person tries to lighten its creepiness with the bandana, but the head's not the problem, it's the bleeding mouth that gives you the creeps

We had dinner with Fung and his friends in this izakaya

One of the many Japanese style decorations in the restaurant

This one is by the cashier just inside the entrance

Individual shoe cupboards for customers to store their shoes

The keys for the shoe cupboards are big metal plates like this one

Waitresses take orders kneeling down

Fung's mom apparently likes Japanese pickled vegetables

Chicken and rice soup

Grilled squid

This is our table/room

I urged Fung's mother to try the delicious Japanese peaches while they're still in season and she bought some at this fruit shop after dinner

Melons in the fruit shop

Beautiful nashi pears

First time I saw such odd-looking fruits. The owner held the paper that features them when he saw me take their picture

We bought our crepes at this crepe shop

This woman is making our crepes

She folds a filled crepe

Things we asked Fung to buy for us in Sydney: Panadol and cookies
