Honohana Museum, Mount Fuji (2011-06-11)

Of the few places we visited in Kawaguchiko, Retro bus stop #17 (Kawaguchiko Sarumawashi Gekijo-Konohana Bijutu-kan) to Konohana Museum has the best viewing spot of Mount Fuji.

To the northbound bus stop's right side is a stage show performed by monkeys which we both think is a cruel thing to watch rather than entertaining.  To the left side is Honohana Museum.

Honohana Museum houses art work by Akiko Ikeda who created the famous Dayan cat in the kingdom of Wachifield.  Dayan goods are sold in countries outside Japan, so you may have seen them in yours.

The museum is tiny with an adjacent shop and cafe.  The maple tree-lined pathway by the complex leads straight to the edge of the lake and right in front is Mount Fuji in all its glory.  The day we visited was a weekday and with the cherry blossom season just gone, we were the only two people in the peaceful surrounding.  We spent a great deal of time just sitting on the bench enjoying the beautiful scenery.
