"Library Card" (2007-11-03)
A couple of months ago when KL was a frequent flyer on Japan Airlines, he received a "Library Card" (Toshoka-do) from them. The card's part of a wide range of promotional thing when JAL was trying very hard to lure back heaps of lost customers to rival All Nippon Airways. The Card isn't your usual library card, you can't use it to lend
books in a library. What you can
do is get 500Yen off any purchase (except school text books) in all
major book stores! I snatched the card the minute I saw it. (no
shame)
I finally hauled my lazy butt out the door recently and went to get
myself the book I've been wanting to buy: a bread making book. I
didn't have "the" book in mind, but I was looking for one that offers
lots of pictures and a variety of easy recipes. And I found the
perfect one co-authored by Takeno Toyoko and Ogiyama Kazuya (Click the
above picture to see it).
The book cover says it has 68 recipes but in fact it has 134.
It contains at least one recipe for just about every major type of
bread popular in Japan. The book cost me only 760Yen/US$6.5 after
discount, a great great buy. Be prepared to see me toot my own
horn in future posts after I make bread using the book's recipes,
hahaha!
