New Rice Cooker (2008-09-03)
We're not in a small appliance shopping spree lately. This new rice cooker you see had been on my shopping list for months, but there was the news of KL getting laid off in May and we didn't know if we'd be moving away, and then there's that cancer episode in July and I didn't know if he would live (!!), I put off the purchase for a good three months.
Our old cooker's non-stick inner pot is so worn that I worried
about eating the coating every time I cooked rice in it. I had
just wanted to replace the pot only, but the cost is MORE than getting
a brand new cooker!
This one I chose is from Toshiba, a name I trust. It boasts a
5mm pot that's supposed to make rice taste better than the conventional
thinner model. You know my palate, I can't discern nuance like
that. This cooker can also proof bread, make onsen tamago
(hotspring eggs) and even bake cakes! (not that I want to bake cakes in a rice cooker)
Well, why did I pick this model? Because it's the cheapest in their line of rice cookers. A good enough reason for me.
