Farewell Dinner At Chijigenkai (2009-01-17)

For the sake of Porsche who's recovering from his unfortunate food poisoning, everybody agreed to go for something light but special.  Chijigenkai seems to fit the bill very well with their kaiseki dinner sets.

We ordered three sets to share between ourselves.  I can't remember the names of the sets, but one's a chicken dinner (afterall this restaurant is well-known for its chicken and chicken stock) and two identical sets (because it takes a minimum order of two sets).

Food was beautifully presented and light although a coupla dishes tasted overly salty.  The last item which was just plain rice and eggs mixed with stock in the clay pot was simply delicious.  The sweetness from the brilliantly orange-yolk eggs and the deeply flavored milky white stock provided a perfect base for the short grain rice to form a luscious creamy risotto-like "Japanese congee", yummmmmm!

Once again, generous Winnie showed her gratitute for this lousy tour guide and interpreter with great food, thank you.
