Chinese buffet (2004-04-23)
One of the biggest joy in life for my girlfriend is to scout around
town looking for cheap but good restaurants. A daunting task,
but she loves doing it.
The buffet lunch at Daifukurai Chinese Restaurant in Ikebukuro () is
the result of her hard work. We eat there quite often (What can I
say? We are cheap). They
charge 1000 yen ( $10) for their buffet. Don't expect 5-star
quality food, you get what you pay for. The friendly staff
including the boss are eager and helpful. Most of the times you
can find
pretty good-tasting roast duck and chicken among the thirty odd dishes
on offer. But once they are gone the restaurant might replace
them with other dishes so it's
better to show up as soon as they open to get your share. For
1000 yen, even if you miss out on them, you can still get your money's
worth on the rest of the dishes.
To get to the restaurant, just take the north exit on the JR Ikebukuro Station. Cross the busy street and keep walking straight without turning until you see a tall building with the word "Bowling" on it ( You guessed it, it's a building for a bowling alley ). Daifukurai is located on the second floor.
