New Year's Eve (2004-12-31)
In less than 24 hours 2005 will be upon us. Shibuya (
) and Shinjuku (
) are two of several places where large crowds pack
the streets for the countdown. I don't think most people there
are really that happy to see
the coming of another year, enough to brace the cold and risk being
trampled on to shout at the top of their voices when the final ten
seconds of this year roll by. Many of whom just want to
have a party, drink, go crazy and lose themselves for a night.
These people probably need it, living and working in this city can be
very stressful. Of course, two particularly wiser people who also
live and work in this city will just stay home and watch the countdown
(if they don't fall asleep before that) and have a cozy and quiet time
with each other, remembering the past twelve months and welcoming the
new year together. Not every celebration needs to be boisterous. If you are not boring old fogies like us and decide to take to the
streets tonight for the countdown, have a safe and joyous time.
