Goodbye Ishida San Part 1 (2009-04-29)
The building where my friend and her son live
Ground floor entrance
Corridor
Right around the back through this little road
Is the small building where a meeting room is converted into a funeral parlor
Altar setup
I asked my friend the meaning behind the canned fruit offerings but she doesn't know. She says she's just following custom
The stuff on the right gives off very fragrant smoke when it hits the coal (?) on the left
Ishida-san's clothing and trinkets were added to the casket
We dabbed sake on his lips
The mini-bus that took us to the crematorium
A large Japanese garden inside the crematorium complex
Entering the crematorium hall
I took this picture behind the monk of the casket being rolled into the incineration room
Snacks and drinks were being served while we waited for the cremation to complete
At a connecting station, tons of passengers wait for the train going into town. At the final station where we got off, it's so packed that for a brief moment, we were stuck on the platform unable to move. People filled up all the space including the stairs
