Cotton Candy (2005-04-05)
I used to just love eating cotton candy when I was little. Perhaps it was always a treat when I got to eat one that made this confectionery so precious to me. I used to pull threads of the soft candy and let it melt in my mouth. What little kid wouldn't like a fluffy ball of sweets on a stick? Eating cotton candy was both fun and delicious.
I often see a cotton candy hawker amongst the many food stalls in a
festival and I can't believe I have not thought of buying one to treat
myself all this time. Therefore on last
Fate Day in our
neighborhood, I bought a big bag of cotton candy.
The cotton candy they sell here doesn't come on a stick, it is
stuffed in a long plastic bag with cartoon characters on it. It
is obviously geared towards children, and usually only kids buy this
sweet treat, not an old fogy like me.
I was pretty excited when I opened the bag and saw this big ball of
cotton candy, and I did enjoy sucking on threads of melted sugar in my
mouth, but for some reason it was not as fun as I had
anticipated. Oh well, now that I finally ate one in over twenty
years, I'm quite happy not to eat another cotton candy for the next
twenty years.
