Hong Kong Food Trumps Japan Food (2007-02-10)
When it comes to fooding, Hong Kong food beats Japan food hands down, no question about that. You can't get that kind of quantity AND quality food in Tokyo like you can in Hong Kong of equal cost. We had Italian and French food this trip and both meals were exceptional and inexpensive. You simply cannot get this kind of value in Japan.I took pictures of every meal we had except those we ate with
relatives. There was one time when we had a fantastic Chinese
dinner
with KL's rellies where there were ribs, smoked duck breast, assorted
Chinese BBQ meats, mud crabs, huge steamed grouper, crispy chicken,
braised duck feet with mushrooms, braised baby pea shoots, shark fin
soup, stirfried meat with cashews, poached live prawns, stirfried
chicken, octopus and vegetables, noodles and special savory sticky
rice, dessert and fruit; all for the unbelievable value of about US$35
per person including wine, beer and soda and leftovers! Why so
cheap and
tasty? WHY?? Where in Japan can one
get all that fabulous food for so little money? Nowhere!
I will review one restaurant at a time in the coming posts, so stay
tuned. Today I've got pictures of some snacks we had on this trip.
