Russian Food (2008-04-07)
After the shopping in Ueno (), it was time for dinner. The Izakaya we walked past that looked good required too much waiting time, so Serlina suggested checking out Marui Department Store's restaurant level after we walked around in circles finding no other restaurants we liked. Matoryoshika there serves Russian cuisine and we were too tired to keep looking, so Russian food it was for us that night. We took forever to decide on the many set meals available on the
menu. I forgot to jot down the names and prices of the sets, so I
can't describe them here but you can check out the food we had in the
pictures.
David and Serlina's food looked more delicious than ours (doesn't
other people's food always look better than yours?). My steak
dinner set came with four small pieces of overcooked beef on a bed of
greasy onion and green pepper. The accompanying tangy sauce with
grated daikon helped to offset the greasiness of the veggies.
The food was quite reasonable, about US$70 for the meal. I have no clue whether it indeed was Russian food we had. As long as our guests enjoyed theirs, it was okay by me.
