Like last year, we went to Takashimaya (

in Shinjuku (
) on Jan 2 to get charcuterie
Happy
Bags. Same bargain from Dallmayr Munchen could be had for 3000Yen/US$33 and nextdoor Peck also sold Happy Bags for 2000Yen. The best part is both of them readily displayed their content so there's no unpleasant surprises later (although there's NEVER unpleasant cured meat in Japan. Even supermarket-grade sausages and ham are great). In fact, almost all food shops tell you what's in their Happy Bags nowadays, a trend I like.
